How does it feel to be honored as a Campaign US Inspiring Woman?
I’m truly honored to be included among such a remarkable group of women in this year's class of honorees. It's inspiring to see the incredible achievements of the women in our industry and I’m grateful and inspired to be one of them.
Who is one mentor or role model in your life that helped you get to where you are?
Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to learn from a remarkable group of female leaders. Some of which were trailblazers, and others invaluable mentors coaching me 1:1. Regardless of their individual role, they all shared three core characteristics: passion, unwavering support and a bold approach. I think it's important to learn and grow from those around you whether they be managers, those in senior leadership positions or clients; combined, they all added different perspectives to round out my growth.
How do you deal with burnout, stress and other issues that typically impact women more acutely than men in the workplace?
The pressure to “do it all” can be intense, especially for women. In my experience, a strong support system is key — having people and team members whom you can rely on, personally and professionally, makes a huge difference. Balancing everything can still be a struggle, so I find it crucial to set boundaries and tap into various support systems when needed. To help me avoid burnout, I find it helpful to prioritize at least one thing for “me” each day, whether it's a morning workout, a quick walk or a coffee break. Taking a few minutes to recharge helps me stay focused on the things that are most important.
What's one thing you wish would change about how women are treated in the advertising industry?
One area I’d personally love to see more progress in is the assumption that women need to constantly prove themselves. Our industry has come a long way since I started my career in my early 20s, but there are still major pockets that still lack diversity, especially in leadership and tech-driven vertices. Women are demonstrably qualified for these roles — we, and those around us, need to break down the barriers that perpetuate impostor syndrome. It's time to celebrate the incredible talent and contributions women bring to advertising, across all levels and specialties.
What's the biggest benefit the industry could achieve by being more inclusive to women?
The advertising industry, and arguably all industries, could unlock a tremendous potential by fully embracing diversity and inclusion, particularly when it comes to women. Studies have shown and proven that diverse teams are more creative and effective. Women bring a unique blend of skills that are crucial for success such as collaboration, efficiency and emotional intelligence. These skills, combined with deep experience, help agencies and brands develop campaigns that resonate more deeply with their audiences.
What's one piece of advice you would give to a young woman looking to rise to the top in the advertising industry?
You are your own best advocate. Your career is individual to you only, don’t be shy to take control and make it your own. Think of every project, opportunity, challenge as a stepping stone for helping you achieve your goals. Raise your hand for things that scare you, these are often the experiences that teach you the most. By taking ownership, consistently seeking growth and advocating for yourself, you will be positioned to reach the goals that you set for yourself.
What's one thing you do to unplug from work and unwind?
When it's time to slam that laptop shut, I love cozying up with a good book, or breaking out a new recipe. Either of these activities help me destress and give me an opportunity to get a bit lost in something else. I’m always on the hunt for great recommendations!
