Daniel Marks London has announced 20 young creative interns who have won placements with some of London's leading creative agencies at the Big Bang Internship Awards.

The headhunting firm is dedicated to finding top talent in the creative agency sector and launched the scheme to give young creative talent a chance to break into the advertising industry.

Applicants were challenged to create an advertising campaign to relaunch the Rubik’s Cube to today’s modern market. The best 30 entries were presented to a panel of over 20 of London’s top executive creative directors for review at a lively roundtable event, which took place on Tuesday 6th October at the Daniel Marks London offices by Oxford Circus.

"Refreshing", "beautiful" and "visually strong" were just some of the judges’ comments whilst reviewing the entries, which ranged from a QR code Rubik’s Cube to an Oystercard-enabled cube.

Out of the 30 finalists, 20 have been offered at least one six-week internship with travel and lunch expenses. Some finalists have been snapped up by more than one agency.

"It was a great day", enthused Daniel Matthews, CEO, Daniel Marks London. "With every agency at the event taking on at least one intern, we are delighted with the results."

The judges have also agreed on an overall outstanding winner - 25-year-old Jayed Ahmed, who applied through The Prince’s Trust (a Daniel Marks partner). He is now doing his placement at The Drum’s Creative Agency of the Year – Mr President. Creative partner Laura Jordan Bambach, as well as the whole roundtable of judges, were particularly impressed with Jayed Ahmed's creative answer to the brief and are delighted to have him on board to start right away.

Bambach commented: "We are so proud to have the Big Bang winner, Jayed, here at Mr President. It was refreshing to judge a selection of work from The Princes Trust, and to see concepts and points of view from an amazing, self-starting group of young creative minds."

Ahmed added: "I really like the Rubik's Cube as I have owned a few over the years. So when I heard about the relaunch and how my idea could be the one to reinvent the cube by the the interviewers, I was really excited about it.

"Taking what I learn and experience with Mr President I hope I can some day make a career in the world of advertising."

Matthews concluded: "We were very impressed with all of our entrants and special congratulations to Jayed Ahmed, the winner of our Rising Star Award.

"There is a need for more young diverse creative talent like this in the industry. Clients tell us they want people who ‘get’ brands and the role of digital. The Big Bang Awards give young people a chance to showcase their ideas and creative potential, with a fantastic opportunity to get noticed by top agencies."

The internships could lead to a formal job offer, or at the very least first-hand experience of the creative process whilst working on the world’s biggest brands.
