A range of agencies have been shortlisted too. In the PPA Advertising awards agency of the year category, which, in association with Brand Republic, aims to recognise the best of planning and execution of advertising for magazine brands, MediaCom, Mindshare, MG OMD, Carat and Maxus will battle it out for Agency of the Year.
In addition, UM has at least one campaign in five out of the six campaign categories. Mindshare has nominations in the Integrated, Print, Effectiveness and Collaboration categories.
A new category, Collaboration, which looks at partnerships between media owners and agencies, features work produced for Woodford Reserve, Microsoft, O2, Silver Spoon, Volvo, Tesco and French Connection.
James Papworth, Marketing Director of the PPA said: "The strength of the entries on the shortlist shows how well the Advertising Awards have been received in their second year.
"The range of advertisers and agencies involved also shows how broad the appeal of magazine brands is, as well as the range of opportunity they present across all platforms, including digital."
The shortlist was selected by a judging panel which includes Duncan Tickell, commercial director, Immediate Media; Christian Lee, managing director, NewCast; Nick Ashworth, marketing director, DFS; Claire Chamberlain, sales director, Bauer; Jenny Biggam, founder, the7stars; Philip Smith, head of Content Solutions and Studio, Brand Republic; Julian Lloyd-Evans, managing director of advertising, Dennis; Zaid Al-Zaidy, chief strategy officer, McCann London; Charlie Meredith, managing director, IPC; Chris Healy, trading director, Shortlist; and Greg Witham, trading and key account director, Hearst Media.
Agency of the Year nominations came from a PPA member survey.
The winners will be announced at an event on October 10 and be featured on Brand Republic the following day.
